World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is 6/13. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) was launched on June 15, 2006, by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and the World Health Organization at the United Nations.
Buncombe County Health and Human Services, along with several partnering agencies are planning the 2023 World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Walk on Thursday, 6/13, from 2 pm to 4 pm at Carrier Park. This multi-generational event is free to all and will include information about elder abuse, its impacts on our community, and information from local agencies that offer actions and supports to combat elder abuse.
